First Annual Curl For Kids Sake a ‘BIG’ Success in High River

March 6 marked the first annual Curl for Kids Sake High River and with a great turnout and help from sponsors, donors, and curlers, we were able to raise over $8,500 to continue supporting mentoring programs for kids in High River.

Over seven teams participated in the curling fundraiser, and we were honoured to have Olympic curler Shannin Kleibrink join the team from Sun Country radio. We would like to put out a warm thank you to Mayor Craig Snodgrass who attended and spoke at the event on power of mentorship and the impact it has made in this community.

Also at the event was former Little Brother Cole, who had volunteered to teach curling to the beginner curlers. Cole knew he would need some help planning the tutorials and called his previous mentor and still friend, Olympic curler John Morris. John, who was competing at the Tim Hortons Brier at the time, gave him a list of pointers and drills so Cole could confidently lead the fundraising event. Thanks Cole and John!

A ‘BIG’ thank you to our sponsors who helped make this event as successful as it was. Especially our Big Deal Sponsor JRRR BBQ, our Trophy Sponsor Curlers Corner, and our Big Heart Sponsor Boston Pizza.

We are already looking forward to next years even ‘BIG’ger event.
