On June 18, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area held our 2017/2018 Report to the Community and Annual General Meeting. Together with families, volunteers, donors, partners, board members and staff we celebrated creating over 1,600 life-changing mentoring relationships for children and youth in and around Calgary who are facing adversity. Continuing the tradition started last year, we also premiered the latest BBBS Calgary and Area Video Annual Report which highlighted the ‘BIG’ events from the past year.
At the event we welcomed new Board members Michael Bell, Jean Jr. Gladu, Adam Lamont and Donna Lee and celebrated the impact made by outgoing board members Judy Burke, Ramez Hanna Alla, David Pickersgill and Michael Smith. A BIG thank you to our new, continuing and outgoing board members for supporting the mentoring movement and BBBS Calgary and Area. We also honoured the recipient of the 2018 Founder’s Award, Bruce Robertson. Read more about Bruce and his dedication to mentoring and BBBS Calgary!
A highlight for the evening was the mentoring impact story presented by volunteer mentor Greg Yuzik and Abdul Hadi, father of Greg’s mentee. Together they shared a story of young boy who, if not for his mentor, might have been left behind. Thank you Greg and Abdul for joining us and sharing your story.
Lastly, a ‘BIG’ thank you to the staff and volunteers who organized and planned this year’s Annual General Meeting. See you all next year!
